Collective Housing Project, Fânzeres
The project for a collective housing building is located in Fânzeres, Gondomar, within a subdivision that is still being developed. The lot where the building will be placed is narrow and long, and the implantation polygon was already defined.
The foundations of the project were based on the creation of apartments with two fronts, the creation of outdoor patios in the back for the ground-floor apartments, and the adding of balconies across the entire width of the west elevation, where the living rooms face, to make the most of the views and outdoor space.
The basic layout of the apartments is left-right scheme, with the bedrooms facing east on the rear elevation, the bathrooms in the center of the apartments, and the open-plan living rooms and kitchens facing west, creating a space for greater family interaction. The exception to this layout is the ground floor, which integrates the entrances to the various blocks, where the bedrooms face the street and the living rooms face the rear, with direct access to the outdoor courtyards. The building has two basement floors with individual entrances at each end of the west elevation.
On the front elevation, the horizontality is accentuated by the markings of the slabs covered in white aluminum sheeting, highlighting the balconies and making them seemingly continuous. The verticality of the rear elevation is emphasized by the demarcation of the metric defined by the individual bedroom openings. The continuous base in a contrasting dark color, corresponding to the ground floor, unifies all elevations.
