Projeto Moradia, Vila, Melgaço

Num terreno agrícola nos arredores da Vila de Melgaço, com vista privilegiada sobre o vale do Rio Minho, nasce a oportunidade de criar uma moradia de raiz com linhas modernas e áreas generosas, que tira o melhor partido dos espaços exteriores e das vistas para a paisagem natural envolvente. A moradia, destinada a uma jovem família, desenha-se segundo a orientação solar e as vistas, de modo que todos os espaços ao nível do rés-do-chão tirem proveito do terraço exterior com exposição sul e nascente, enquanto que no piso superior se podem aproveitar as vistas para o vale a norte, através do terraço.

A materialização da casa faz-se com a criação de um embasamento em pedra, análogo ao muro na frente de rua, que corresponde à cave e garagem, onde assenta o volume branco da edificação pontuado por ripados que ajudam a definir os vãos. A casa desenvolve-se num L que abraça o terraço exterior, em que cada braço corresponde às diferentes áreas da casa: zonas comuns e espaços privados dos quartos. A entrada é feita no centro do L, servindo de rótula entre as duas áreas. No piso superior encontram-se as zonas de trabalho, com vistas privilegiadas para o vale.

O projeto engloba os arranjos dos espaços exteriores, com espaço para piscina sobre-elevada em relação ao terraço, definindo, assim, o seu limite, voltando a procurar a analogia com os muros de pedra que definem os limites da propriedade.

Housing Project, Vila, Melgaço

On a piece of agricultural land on the outskirts of the Vila of Melgaço, with a privileged view of the Minho River valley, the opportunity arose to create a new home with modern lines and generous areas, making the most of the outdoor spaces and views of the surrounding natural landscape. The house, intended for a young family, was designed according to the solar orientation and views, so that all the spaces on the ground floor take advantage of the outdoor terrace with south and east exposure, while the upper floor offers views of the valley to the north through the terrace.

The house’s materialization is achieved with the creation of a stone plinth, similar to the wall on the street front, which corresponds to the basement and garage, upon which the white volume of the building rests, punctuated by wooden slats that help define the openings. The house develops in an L-shape that embraces the outdoor terrace, with each arm corresponding to the different areas of the house: common areas and private bedrooms. The entrance is in the center of the L-shape, serving as a hinge between the two areas. The upper floor houses the work areas, with privileged views of the valley.

The project encompasses the layout of the outdoor spaces, with space for a swimming pool elevated above the terrace, thus defining its boundaries, again seeking an analogy with the stone walls that define the property’s boundaries.
